Old Style Copper Top & Aluminum	New Style Tin-Plated Copper

For years now HASTINGS has only promoted and sold tin-plated copper ferrules. We have never marketed aluminum ferrules. Over the years, since the testing of grounds has become so prevalent, it has been discovered and proven that aluminum ferrules compressed on copper grounding cable do not perform well over the long haul.

The one area where HASTINGS fell short was the connector we were using to terminate the cable into the grounding elbow. (The connector we were using was provided by the elbow manufacturers,) Our former connector was aluminum with a threaded copper top. When it came time for testing of these elbow assemblies it was discovered that this was an area on the ground set that didn't test well. The original design of the old style connector was intended to be used with the aluminum U.R.D. cable and not copper grounding cable. Therefore, it was not a good design for copper ground cable assemblies.

With this in mind and at the urging of many of our customers, HASTINGS designed and has developed a 100% tin-plated copper connector to replace the old style aluminum copper top connector, which we did not manufacture ourselves. Both the old style and the new tin-plated connectors are shown in the photos at the top of the page.

Our ferrule and connector line is now complete, 100% tin-plated!

2. Corrosion and contamination of the conductor is now minimized
3. And, the tin-plating of the connector prevents outside oxidation to contaminate the connector
